"Braiding Hair (Comfort)"

32mer

A scene on Hatfield Street in Pittsburgh's Lawrenceville section. A Somolian
grandmother braids her granddaughter’s hair with the girl’s two siblings looking on
. The older gfirl was comfortably leaning into her grandmother’s lap.
They posed for me one late summer aftenoon.. The next day, when I
took them a copy of my preliminary sketch, they invited me into their
home. Proudly, they showed me sweet corn growing in their back yard.
Acrylic on Canvas, 16 X 20 2007.
